Hello everyone,

My fiance and friends told me that I have a voice that would be perfect for VO’s, however, I have no idea where to begin getting started. I am a 27 year old female with a teenagers voice in addition to other funny voices from the Family Guy tv show lol. Can anyone give me advice? Thanks

Yes, the competition is stiff, but that is the all part of the game. To succeed, you need to contact your local businesses and even search the Internet for businesses within a larger area around where you live. Don’t be afraid to hand out business cards to people you just met.

Remember: every single business needs our services in one form or another — they honestly just don’t know it yet. It’s part of our job to let them know.

Not surprised, at all. Having sold LED’s Capacitors, & other Electronic Components to manufacturing companies for over 20 years, I lost business for less than 1/2 a cent per part at times , but most always won it back.
So competition is part of my everyday life.
But, I am in for the long haul……(oh no not again, heh, heh).
I am getting Regional Work and then will look at expanding from there.
I have a “Moment in History” job I got for 1 year. Pay is not so great, but it is for a non-profit and it was a favor for my friend. But, have got a lot of interest. Especially since I also research and write my own copy and record the segments at home.
Thanks for the heads advice.

Yes, they abound, but so do wannabe VO actors. Have you been on the pay for audition sites lately? It’s terrible. Not only are there very few jobs by comparison to the hordes who want them, but there are those selling themselves for very cheap because they’re afraid of being outbid by the enormous competition.

Love your site. I am 57 starting a new career and have started doing a few voice overs for a friends radio show and now have a El Paso History Moments segment each week and promo’s that run all week.
For my age I have a voice between 30′s to 50′s, so let’s hope for the best. Plus, I have to write my own copy. Talk about seat of your pants.
I really appreciate your input and I have read several articles.
